IMPORTANT NOTICE – Skateboard Equipment Requirements
For the safety and success of all participants, please note that inexpensive skateboard completes—often purchased from Amazon or Walmart and typically equipped with plastic or low-quality aluminum trucks—are not permitted at camp. These boards are generally designed as toys for very basic use by young children and are not suitable for skatepark or ramp environments.

To ensure a safe experience for everyone, students must bring a quality skateboard built for actual skateboarding, not a toy model. Campers who arrive with unsafe or inadequate equipment will not be allowed to participate.

CRUISER BOARDS and LONGBOARDS are also not acceptable for use in the skate park.

PROPER EQUIPMENT:

A good, quality, safe, Complete Skateboard is essential. (Sample Below)

COST GUIDE: The cost of a good, quality skateboard suitable for this Skate Camp is about $99-$189+ (7 Ply Maple Wood Deck, Solid Steel Trucks, Polyurethane wheels, proper grip tape, hardware etc)

Note: Any complete skateboard purchased that is less than $99 is most likely not suitable for this camp. (Riding the skate park, ramps and learning proper skateboarding)

Complete Skateboard must be:

• Functioning properly (7 Ply Maple Wood Deck, Solid Steel Trucks, Polyurethane wheels, proper griptape, hardware etc)
• Not be Warped
• Good Quality wheels mounted on solid metal trucks
• Suitable for the use in the skatepark and on the ramps
• See sample photo of shape and style above.

ATTN PARENTS:

PARENTS PLEASE READ. VERY IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT YOUR COMPLETE SKATEBOARD FOR CAMP.

At Skate Camp last year and this year, we experienced some students arriving with low quality complete skateboards often purchased on Amazon, Walmart, or local department stores etc. These skateboards feature inferior plastic or aluminum trucks. (Wheels mounted on the trucks are inferior material as well)

These boards are toys for young children designed for very basic skateboarding at home and are not suitable for the skateboard park (ramp) usage.

Our program features significant ramp and park usage. These low quality boards actually inhibit the ability of the student to learn and progress in the program. We have also seen injuries as a result of these boards. (Boards and trucks breaking)

For the safety your student and others, please bring a quality skateboard with solid steel trucks as indicated above.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR HELMET IS A SKATEBOARD HELMET, NOT A BIKE HELMET. Bike Helmets do not protect the head fully for skateboarding (front of head and protection to neckline).

Highly suggested as the kids will be skating in the park and learning new tricks.

Apply before coming to camp and bring extra to reapply.

For weather / temperatures etc.

Skateboard shoes are always best for skateboarding (Vans, Nike, Adidas etc) We highly recommend skate shoes.

If you do not have skate board shoes, basketball shoes or tennis shoes (flat sole shoes) are ok.

Running shoes are NOT recommended and can result in difficulty learning skateboarding or injury.
