Before & After care available

The Fairfax Surf Shop is pleased to team up with the City of Fairfax to offer a fun, quality, skateboard camp experience for youth interested in skateboarding. Since 1976, Fairfax Surf Shop has been a staple of skateboarding in the Northern Virginia community. Skaters will be placed into age/ability groups. Various skating styles covered (street, vert, rails, ramps, etc…) Learn or improve on key skateboarding basics and tricks: ollies, manuals, kickflips, etc. Camp also features skate games, park activities, safety equipment tips and contests. Skaters receive a t-shirt and Fairfax Surf Shop equipment discount. A quality skateboard and helmet are required for the camp. Elbow, knee and wrist pads are highly recommended.

AGES 7-16 / ALL LEVELS (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced)

Due to limited capacity, camp registration will be limited this year. Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Exclusive Camp Facilities

Campers will be utilizing various on-site facilities for camp activities throughout the week. Skaters will get to learn, ride, and complete all week long in the Van Dyck skate park and access an exclusive street course designed and assembled by the Fairfax Surf Shop team on the adjacent basketball court.

Frequent water breaks will be taken under the shaded pavilion next to the skate park. Lunch, snack, and many group activities will be held in the newly constructed and air conditioned Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center directly across the parking lot from the skate park.

The brand new facility has a massive conference room with hardwood flooring and a video projector that will be used to shoot skateboard videos for the kids. Campers will have access to the community center throughout the day for ice, water, and bathroom usage.

9:15 - 9:30 AMWarm-up/stretching exercise with instructors
9:30 - 11:30 AMAM Lessons: Mini ramp(small 1/2 pipe), quarter pipes and flatground
11:30 AM - 12:30 PMLunch inside the community center with a skateboard videos and group activities
12:30 - 1:45 PMPM Lessons: Flowing through the park/streetcourse & working on tricks: grinds, kick turns, etc...

Before and after care service

Before & After Care will be offered throughout the week for all campers. Camp begins at 9 AM and ends at 3 PM. If a camper is not picked up by 3:10 PM they will be charged for after care services for that day. Single Before & After Care services can be paid for in advance online at the Parks and Rec Camp Registration site (through your account). On the day of service directly at the Parks and Rec office in the Sherwood Community Center located next to the Van Dyck Skate Park.
